About ICOR

For over 50 years, the Interorganizational Council on Regulation (ICOR) has worked to share best practices and advocate on behalf of the important work performed by the licensing boards that regulate the professions of architecture, engineering, interior design, landscape architecture, and surveying.

Originally founded in 1972, ICOR is currently made up of the Council for Interior Design Qualification (CIDQ), Council of Landscape Architectural Registration Boards (CLARB), National Council of Architectural Registration Boards (NCARB) and National Council of Examiners for Engineering and Surveying (NCEES).

As nonprofit regulatory associations, membership in these organizations is comprised of the U.S. (and in some cases Canadian) licensing boards for engineering and surveying, architecture, landscape architecture, and interior design. In some jurisdictions, a single licensing board may regulate most or all of these professions.

The organizations within ICOR collaborate on issues of shared interest including licensing board support, best practices in regulation, and advocating on behalf of the public protection role our member licensing boards play. ICOR also works to harmonize policies, processes, and procedures between professions to reduce friction and create administrative efficiencies for the many boards shared by the ICOR associations.
